Weekly Update for September 16 to 20, 2019

Marshall Middle School
Weekly Update

September 16, 2019

Dear Students and Parents,

Thank you for assisting us in having a great school opening.  Students were greeted by their teachers who were eager to meet them and begin the new school year.  The students appeared excited to meet new friends, learn their new schedule, and take on a new role at the school as 5th, 6th, and 7th graders.  I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all of our staff.  Our staff is certainly proving to truly be an exceptional group of educators.  We look forward to a rewarding school year.
Middle School years can sometimes prove to be challenging both academically and socially.  Students in the middle school, while they may present needing less parent/adult support in meeting these challenges, require a great deal of help.  This help comes best in the form of a coaching model. Students will stumble, fall, and yes in some instances fail. Sometimes it appears that the middle school years are where this happens most.  Coaching your child through situations, while I admit is sometimes extremely challenging, will allow him/her to learn how to navigate difficult situations. We place tremendous value on being a part of your child’s education.  We will support your child in meeting these challenges and foster a positive middle school experience.
Thank you for the wonderful turnout at the Back to School Night.  The Back to School Night is an ideal way to gain insight on curriculum, classroom instruction and build relationships among teachers and parents, fostering the home/school connection.  The Back to School Night PowerPoint used during homeroom can be located on the school website. We hope to continue meaningful two-way communication utilizing technology as well as a phone call or an old fashion “hello” when we meet around town.  Here is a list of ways to keep informed:
